The Artist-Lecture Series was established in 1964 to bring noted lecturers and quality programs in the performing arts to the MSU campus and the Wichita Falls community.

Captain Sig Hansen

Sig Hansen began fishing at the age of 14, assisting his father developing the King Crab industry in Alaska. At the age of 22, he began serving as a relief captain on the family boat, the Northwestern. At 26 he became one of the youngest ever to become a full-time captain. Since 2006, he has been featured on every season of Discovery Channelís Deadliest Catch.


Robert Ballard

Best known for his discovery of the R.M.S. Titanic in 1985, Robert Ballard is one of the most accomplished deep-sea explorers having conducted more than 120 deep sea missions, discovering the site of wrecks such as the Bismark, Lusitania, the site of the Battle of Guadalcanal, and the USS Yorktown. Ballard is the president of the Institute for Exploration

This 10-piece musical collective from Austin, Texas, has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create a unique voice. Last year they gained further acclaim by winning their first Grammy for their self-produced El Existential.


Suzanne Massie

Born in New York as the daughter of a Swiss diplomat, Suzanne Massie has been involved in many aspects of study and work in the Soviet Union/Russia over the past 38 years. She has also worked to develop Russian art exhibitions across the United States. As a congressional consultant from 1984-1988, she advised President Ronald Reagan.


Yoram Ettinger

The Artist-Lecture Series is pleased to present Yoram Ettinger at 7 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, in Akin Auditorium. Yoram Ettinger is a consultant on US-Israel relations as well as the Chairman of Special Projects at the Ariel Center for Policy Research. Formerly the Minister for Congressional Affairs to Israel's Embassy in Washington, DC, Ettinger also served as Consul General of Israel to the Southwestern US. He is a former editor of Contemporary Mideast Backgrounder, and is the author of the Jerusalem Cloakroom series of reports.

An Italian in love with American music meets a Ukranian-American mandolin and violin virtuoso for a magical evening of cross-pollinated roots, jazz, and folk. One of Europeís foremost guitarists, Genova-based Beppe Gambetta is an innovator on the acoustic guitar, and Peter Ostroushko is one of the finest mandolin and fiddle players in ------------------------------------------acoustic music.

Note: Students, faculty and staff receive free tickets with a valid MSU Campus Card. Tickets for faculty, staff, and the general public can be obtained at the Clark Student Center Information Desk two weeks prior to each event. Students may obtain tickets three weeks prior to an event.
